(July 7, 2018) For the first time in 2018, Jesse James Lay ventured to Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio on Friday evening, July 6 for a $1,500 to win Super Late Model shootout. Jesse moved up one spot to finish sixth in his heat race and later started the A-Main from the inside of the sixth row. The Union, Kentucky ace then blasted past a handful of racecars during the 'Phantom Fireworks 30' to claim a solid sixth place performance behind only winner Chris Garnes, Kody Evans, Walker Arthur, Roger Ruark, and Jackie Boggs. Jesse James Lay Wins Heat and Finishes on Podium in $2,000 Special!
(July 1, 2018) Jesse James Lay and the Outlaw Racing team trekked to the nearby Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening, June 30 for a $2,000 to win throwdown. Jesse won his heat race in preliminary action and later started the A-Main from the outside of the front row. After a couple of errant slidejobs by other competitors and near crashes, Jesse slipped back to fifteenth in the running order before making his charge back to the front. The "Last Outlaw" blasted all the way back up to third to finish on the podium of the unsanctioned contest behind only victor Billy Green and runner-up Austyn Mills! Lay Competes in Iron-Man Show at Nearby Florence Speedway
(June 24, 2018) For the second straight weekend, Jesse James Lay and the Outlaw Racing team were in the pit area at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday, June 23. The Schaeffer's Oil Iron-Man Championship Series rolled into the tri-state area to preside over a $5,000 to win shootout. Jesse grabbed the fifth transfer spot through his heat race and later started the 50-lapper from the inside of the eighth row. The Union native wound up pulling his #33 ride into the infield shortly after the halfway mark in the attrition-filled race and wound up being paid for fourteenth at the pay window following the completion of the show. Despite Breaking a Wheel; Lay Soldiers on to Seventh Place Effort
(June 17, 2018) Jesse James Lay and his #33 team were back at the nearby Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday night, June 16 for a weekly Super Late Model program. Jesse fought carburetor issues in his heat race and finished fourth in the prelim. In the main event, which paid $1,200 to the winner, Jesse broke a wheel during the course of the race and had to battle back from the tail of the field. At the checkers, Jesse had advanced up to the seventh spot, which is where he ultimately finished at the undersized 1/2-mile oval. Lay Competes in $100k Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway
(June 10, 2018) The Outlaw Racing team and driver Jesse James Lay trekked to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from June 7-9 for the annual running of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' In the $5,000 to win weekend opener, which was pushed back to Friday afternoon due to rain, Jesse finished seventh in his heat race and fifth in his B-Main and narrowly missed out on the 25-lap daytime sprint. Later that evening, Jesse ran sixth in his heat race and eighth in his B-Main, which also barely kept him out of the $10,000 to win headliner. At the "Big E" on Saturday, Jesse placed ninth in his loaded heat race and twenty-fourth in the B-Main, but could not find a way into the $100,000 to win 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' (June 3, 2018) Jesse James Lay and the Outlaw Racing team invaded the nearby Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening, June 2 for a $1,200 to win weekly Super Late Model throwdown. Jesse won his heat race in preliminary action and later started the headliner from the inside of the second row. Jesse then drove to the race lead and held the point for about ten circuits before winding up third in the entertaining contest behind only victor Josh Rice and runner-up John Whitney. Lay Sees Rain at Florence; Transfers into Johnny Appleseed Classic
(May 28, 2018) After yet another rain-out at Florence (KY) Speedway on Saturday evening, the Outlaw Racing team rolled into the hallowed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Sunday, May 27 for the annual running of the 'Johnny Appleseed Classic.' The American Late Model Series (ALMS) presided over the one-day shootout, which boasted a $3,000 payday and marked the final tune-up for the upcoming 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' Jesse James Lay knocked down the eighth fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session prior to moving up to grab the fourth transfer spot through his heat race. Jesse then moved up inside of the top ten briefly in the 25-lap sprint before slipping back a few positions as the race wore on to settle for a fifteenth place performance. Jesse James Lay Runs Up Front Early at Florence Speedway
(May 13, 2018) Following a rain-out last weekend in the 'Ralph Latham Memorial,' the #33 team was back in the pit area at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening, May 12 for a weekly Super Late Model program. Jesse James Lay placed a strong second in his heat race and later ran inside of the top three during the $1,200 to win main event. Unfortunately, another competitor slid across his nose and Jesse checked up and got sideways to avoid him, which killed his tires and eventually helped cause him to fade to eleventh by the unfurling of the checkered flag. (April 29, 2018) Jesse James Lay and the Outlaw Racing team rolled back into the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday night, April 28 for a weekly Super Late Model throwdown. Jesse ran fourth in heat race action before starting the $1,200 to win headliner from the inside of the fourth row. Jesse then had a solid run in his first feature event of 2018, as he drove past a trio of competitors en route to a fourth place performance behind only winner Nick Latham, John Whitney, and Trevor Landrum! Jesse James Lay Finally Kicks Off 2018 Campaign in Spring 50!
(April 22, 2018) The Outlaw Racing team and driver Jesse James Lay finally kicked off their version of the 2018 racing season on Saturday evening, April 21 at the nearby Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky! The Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals Series presided over the rain-postponed 'Spring 50' and 28 competitors signed into the pit area to vie for the $5,000 winner's check. Jesse was unfortunately involved in an early incident in his heat race, which resulted in him going for a spin entering turn one. From there, he was playing catch up the entire night and eventually posted finishes of tenth in his loaded heat race and ninth in the B-Main. Jesse was not able to transfer into the 50-lap headliner at his hometown racetrack, which was won by Devin Gilpin.
